Fiesta Lanes: A Must-Read

Ok, so, many years ago, there was a midcentury bowling alley that had somehow survived the decades out on Lane Ave., just past the campus area. It was called the Fiesta Lanes.

It was razed when I was in college. A small strip mall with a two story doctor's office was built on the spot.

If you know which window of which shopping center in which to look, you will find that the bowling alley stood there because the current owners saved the neon sign and put it on the wall of the doctor's office on the second floor.

So I stopped tonight to get a picture of the sign, at least as much as possible of it; this is that picture.

I walk back to my car, and the couple in the next car ask me if I just shot the neon sign; I say yes. We exchange a little more friendly small talk about how cool it is that the sign was saved. It occurs to me that I really should try to get inside to get a true shot as long as I'm there.

Even though there is not a gynecologist's office in the world open at 9:30pm on a Saturday.

I start walking toward the office, and the couple reminds me of the above fact.

The door? .... opens. There doesn't appear to be a soul inside.

See the next shots.
