I first visited Burning Man in 2004, simply as a pilot providing transportation for a friend of mine to and from the event.
At first glance I knew it was something I needed to experience for myself. When calling ahead on the aircraft radio advising of my position they replied right away, "Welcome home..." something I'd never heard over an aircraft radio before!
I then returned in 2005 and 2006 to experience the event and share my photographic memories of it with you. I returned for a few days in 2008 this time with my wife. She and I were looking forward to returning in 2009 with additional friends and family with us, but now that we had our first baby in 2009 and didn't make it.
In 2010 my father decided he wanted to go, so the two of us headed out in his motorhome (felt like I was cheating) and we went for just Monday through Thursday.
This land is not my home, but Burning Man has definitely held a special spot in my experience of life :-)
