River's Bend (Horseshoe Bend of Asia!!)
I saw a photo of this place not far from where it was taken. I remember thinking that it could be the best shot I had ever seen. Lucky Bart (who was showing us around the area) knew the place and was able to arrange for a guide to take us to the spot the following morning. I don't necessarily consider myself a lucky photographer......but finding this location (which turned out to be an overgrown path to a small clearing about two hours from where we were staying) and getting this kind of sunrise on the first try was LUCKY!!! I was prepared to go back as many times as it took. So a big thanks to Bart for making this happen. Bart gives photo tours in Guilin area, and although I didn't officially take a tour with him, he did show Sarah and I around and gave us a ton of info and pointed us towards great locations to shoot. If you go to the area I highly recommend you consider one of his tours.
I am processing my images on a laptop here in Asia and it is pretty tough because of the screen brightness changing as the angle changes. I will reprocess this on my "real" computer when I get home.
