iron mountain legion tank 001 pic 13

Newer Older

I've been talking with some friends lately about building a joint post-apocalyptic diorama. I started thinking about various factions that could do battle in the wastelands, and came up with several ideas. One was the Iron Mountain Legion.

The Iron Mountain Legion is intended to be the remnants or descendants of an elite military unit that was sealed away in a bunker (Iron Mountain) during the war. They emerge to wreak havoc from time to time.

Goofy back-story aside, this is my first completed attempt at building a tank. It turned out rather, oddly, if you ask me. It seems almost cartoony. While that wasn't what I set out to do, I think it's interesting. It also successfully includes four-wheel steering, which I'm happy about.

Now that's cool. I think maybe some emblem or a flag would add to it, but this is great now how it is.

A lot of people keep mentioning Metal Slug, I'm clearly going to have to check it out.

Think of this as something that was built pre-apoc, and then rolled out into combat post-apoc. Hence, no rusty or patchy look.

The exo-force mountain sticker on the front was intended to be an emblem. Something that they stenciled on post-apoc. I guess it didn't quite achieve my intent, eh?

Magnus, I originally wanted a narrow, longer gun offset from center. I had one of those big cones on my build table, though, and when I saw how perfectly it filled the gap for the gun up front, I had to use it.

It's cartoony, but it suits the creation. Nicely done!

I think the short, squat barrel contributes to the cartoony look. I know you're loving how that big cone fits in that space, but if you elongated it and found a way to step it down to a 1x1 at the muzzle, I think it would lose some of the cartoony-ness.

Other than that, though, this looks great--loving the turret armor angles, and how well the wheels fit in the arches, plus all the little details.

This is great. Although I wouldn´t have gone to plain Dark Bley (You, somekind of colorscheme, camouflage ou even small accents of other colour), the desing is great, the cannon is deadly, and the cartoonish look wears it very well. Great!

Unno, converted, this would make a great T17 Staghound Armored Car. Just a WW2 suggestion.

That's an interesting idea, about modifying it into an armored car. I'd already given some thought to building a smaller version of it, as an armored car, so I guess time will tell.

That is a seriously clever engineered vehical - reminds me of the Metal Slug from the arcade game.
