• This is shweet! - remyth
  • this take on the original two seater is pretty ingenious, well done - votaw
  • hmmm, my Seismological Sensor Device™ detects some weird vibrations. I wonder wha – OH MY GOD IT'S COMING AT ME!! - nolnet
  • Did you end up leaving in the engraved brick here? - TJJohn12
  • No, nothing engraved there. The engraved brick had been a place holder for a "TRANSPORT" printed brick, but the ones I got were too badly yellowed to use.
  • Thanks
  • Mech is cool, but this topper to the Loot Island bases is great! - "Big Daddy" Nelson
  • Ha! Thanks, it seemed like perfect way to simulate the terrain from the old boxes.
  • Nice use of the exo force robot arms :-) - Cybørg
  • I wish I could take credit, but they used them as fingers in an official exo-force set.

Neo Classic Space Robot Command Center HDR Box Art with Logo

Newer Older

Set 6951, the Robot Command Center was my absolute favorite Classic Space set (of the sets I actually had) when I was growing up. When the opportunity came up to create a Neo Classic Space MOC, my mind immediately went to this set. It was basically a mecha, except that the legs didn’t move at all, and the arms were attached to the knees. I figured that new parts and techniques would allow me to do something really cool with this idea. I did decide to lose a few of the play features from the original, even though I like them. There was just something about a little ship docking in my mecha’s crotch that didn’t seem right.

Shadow Viking, .GMan, and 37 other people added this photo to their favorites.

Certainly nice, but it lacks a certain 'command center' feel to it that accompanies a large body with room for 'figs. Besides that, it's all awesome.

Sweet. I love the sleek, rounded blue legs and the greebley gray areas.

I love the greeble bits between the sleek blue armor. Very cool take on CS.

Opallix, I think it's the arms... The "torso" and legs are big, chunky, and burly, but the arms are just lacking a little...... umf?

What a great idea for the event! A really unique concept, and so well executed. Stellar work!

Two figs isn't enough for you? That's all that the original set seated, although they certainly had a lot more space than this sucker does.

I can't really explain why, but smallish arms just felt right to me for this. Maybe it's partly because the original had tiny tentacle arms.

Awesome! Looking at the original 6951, all I could think was, what a strange looking set. Good call not attaching the arms to the knees here, but I do wish you could have worked in some of those trans-red shields. :P

Beefy! It reminds me of BattleTech.

Say, will this be at the WAMALUG meeting in April? I'd love to see it in person.

    @Happy Weasel
Oh, well, maybe it's just the poportions.

Whatever, I like this version better anyway. ;)

I really love this. The proportions look spot on to me. It does look like it ought to be holding a giant sword, though...

    Superb :-)

In this pose, fists held skyward, I couldn't help but think "Khaaaan!"

Lovely mech. The radar array on top is brilliant, too.
I suppose mr Red is controlling the mech while mr Yellow is checking the radar and communications.

The Robot Command set was one I picked up in a job-lot a couple of years ago and at the time I wasn't sure what to make of it - but then it grew on me. I'm pleased somebody else appreciates it too -- and this updated version is excellent!

    Also: what bluemoose said!

  14. _Matn 62 months ago | reply

That is just. Pure ownage. Awesome!

I would say one of your best evar. Not entirely sold on the robot arms dish - looks a little Geiger-ish - but overall a doublecheck in the win column.

This is so lovely, man. You did us proud mate!

I miss the trans red shields too, but I didn't recover mine from my parents' in time.

I have a lot of crap to bring to the meeting, but since you asked, I'll bring this too.

Geiger isn't something I would have thought of for the radar, but I can kinda see where you're coming from.

    Thanks everyone!

    I appreciate it. ;)
