The work on the church of Saint Maclou was begun in 1434 (replacing an older structure), but it had some major additions made in the first decades of the 16th century, including the curved entrance porch, and the church was consecrated in 1521. It is built in the French flamboyant gothic style.
The church was badly hurt by allied bombings in 1944.
