• The spider silk seems to conflict with the softness, and I wondered if I should process it out.
On the other hand, perhaps it helps to emphasise the softness.

    Things to ponder.
So long as it doesn't become ponderous. :{)

Sometimes something will get my attention and then as an artist/photographer/scientist I consider it my job to analyze what attracted my attention, and then use what skills I have to document that quality. In real life I could move around it watching how light played artist with shadow and form, and in the end I decided on this POV (which incidentally was the angle of view from which I initially noticed it), so sometimes your first instincts are in fact correct.
And, after all wasn't that what grabbed you to begin with!
Sadly a poor representation of the dynamic beauty that it was as I moved about studying it from different angles of view, but we must learn to deal with the limits of our medium. :{(

Brilliant? Ha, you remind me of the time I spent in Ireland were at the time "Brilliant" was the slang word of the day (successor to "Awesome" I believe). Not to mention that the "Emerald Isle" was also a great place to find fungus! :{)

    Thanks Nelson!
I searched Flickr for your ID and there are thousands of images with all different types of formations and colors! Yow!
I realize now, how lucky I was to find a small photogenic cluster.

You really have an exceptional photo there, but looking at your overall work that is not surprising. I admire your photographic skills.
