Louisiana Waterthrush - Ken Lockwood Gorge, Annandale, New Jersey
This guy was walkin' around huntin' for bugs on the ground, and every so often would hop off the ground and grab a bug off the bottom of a fern or other low laying leaf. It had accumulated quite a number of them to take back to its nest before a biker peddled within a few feet of it, and scared it off. Walkers will usually stop to allow you to finish your pics, or make an effort not to disturb your subject, but bikers always seem to be on some kind of a mission and seldom seem to consider what's going on around them.
The low light this guy was workin' in, required me to take off the TC, and use the 50D (smaller sensor body) to get some extra mag power to capture this secretive little guy. Even so I had to resort to ISO 800 and work at 1/160 to be within the IS's (image stabilization) 2 stop range.
