Carolina Wren - Higbee Beach WMA, Cape May Point, New Jersey
Note: This image was processed to remove background noise. Background noise tends the be more noticeable because the out of focus background is a very smooth gradation that causes random pixels of noise to stand out, whereas that same type of noise is much less conspicuous in detailed (in focus) areas, but any attempt to remove it from in-focus areas will degrade subject detail.
This image is (or was at one time) one of my most popular images.

This image may also be seen on the Cornell Lab of Ornithology web based "All About Birds" bird guide on
the Carolina Wren page in the "Field Marks" section where it is used to illustrate the following field marks:
• Stocky and large-headed with pointed bill
• Warm brown above and buffy orange below
• Tail barred with fine black markings
(It should also have mentioned the bars on the primary and secondary wing feathers seen in this image)
• Prominent white eyebrow
However, it's a poor "Bird Book" shot 'cause the big thing these little guys are known for (i.e. the tail up at a sharp angle) is missing, which for me is what makes it unique!
Gees Louise, I guess I'll never learn! LOL
