This is my favourite painting. No other paintings compare, not even close (at least not anyone I've seen yet). I have spent hours and hours looking at it, daydreaming about walking into this scenery.. I literally can't get tired of watching it! And no, it's not the original painting, we aren't quite that rich, haha.
A brief history. The painter is danish Peder Mörk Mönsted (1859-1941) and the motif is painted in Italy. It's a loggia and the mountain in the background is Mt. Vesuvius. He painted this in 1889, during one of his travels through Europe.
One of my dreams is to one day visit the very same place where the guy put down his easel and painted this. Can anyone give me any clues where to go?
