Doncaster built 56057 was to be the first class 56 to be overhauled at Crewe and is seen at the Cheshire Works on Sunday 23rd March 1986 awaiting work to commence.

56057 was delivered new to Toton TMD from Doncaster Works on the 27th March 1979, it was re-allocated to Bristol (1/85), Cardiff (10/87), Toton (2/90), Stewarts Lane (3/93) and Motherwell in March 1994, becoming "BRITISH FUELS" at Aberdeen Guild Street Yard on the 27th June 1996. It's final allocation was to Immingham in September 1997 where it was stored in 1999. 56057's nameplates were removed January 2004 and it was withdrawn in March of the same year. The loco was sold for scrap, however, was later saved for preservation moving to the Nene Valley Railway in July 2004. The locomotive has now been re-hired for use on the network by Colas Rail and is currently in use as 56311.
