Waiting for Johnny Depp...
This was shot during the Inaugural Mice Chat Photo Meetup last night at Disneyland. About a dozen photo-nerds met at Disneyland for marathon tripod jousting and paparazzi stalking of Princesses and Fairies...Just out of frame are five other tripods set up to shoot this gorgeous display of holiday lighting in New Orleans Square...waiting patiently for the street to clear as guests exit Pirates of the Caribbean.
Long exposure night shots are interesting to set-up and shoot, because you really don't know what you are going to get until you are done...moving people will mostly disappear, while people that stop will show up in your exposure as a muddy ghost or blurry person... Inevitably, someone ALWAYS stops in the middle of your frame!
What made this outing particularly interesting is the fact that all of us were lined up here with tripods, and the exiting guests were all wondering who we were waiting for, as if we were paparazzi! Some people will even stop right in front of your camera (during a exposure) and ask what you are doing. To be honest though, many people that asked us what we were doing were genuinely interested in the photography and cameras themselves, and some inquired where they could see the pictures, which was nice. Ryan's comments below are right on!
It will be interesting to see the different photos that emerge from our gathering...It was especially nice to meet people in the flesh that I already considered friends and share techniques throughout the day.
