    These are lots of these huge drawings of animals and birds in the desert over an 80km area. They were created between 200BC andd 700AD but no-one knows by who or why

      One theory is that the drawings were used as 'signposts' to the nearest water-sources. You can see how that would have been very useful for ancient desert-travellers, though I still don't see how it explains the fact that the creatures they represent are only really visible from the air.
