Ruddy Shelduck

Ruddy Shelduck near the lake Nam Tso in Tibet, October 2004. The species breed around this lake, but this bird was part of a rather loose flock of more than 100 birds. Some Bar-headed Geese and Black-necked Cranes did also feed among them. The birds might be local, but also wintering or resting migrants.
