The Lady of Xiaohe- some history bits

In the Tarim Basin of Northern China some extraordinary and well preserved 3800-4000 year old mummies were discovered about 2003. They appeared to be Caucasian or Indo European.. They had high cheekbones and were tall. Some wore tartan or plaid leggings and had blond or red hair. Two women found seem to still possess great beauty and Xiaohe was probably of high status. The Beauty of Xiaohe and the sleeping beauty of Loulan are the most famous.

I iimagined that one of them may have looked a bit like this. Because this area was also part of Turkestan and the Uyghers who still live in China, there have been some claims that they were Turkic forebears. Some recent tests say that they were a unique ethnic group from Siberia and/or central asia.. It just shows you the amazing migrations that went on through millennia.

Look them up

the mummies of the Tarim basin

They were buried in boat like coffins with an oar as a marker similar to Viking burials.
