Little Maumelle River

Newer Older

Exposure: 25 seconds
Aperture: f/7.1
ISO: 100
Focal length: 40mm
Circular polarizer

ZOMBIE size

Cypress Trees in the Little Maumelle River – on the Kingfisher Trail at Pinnacle Mountain State Park. We’ve had several inches of rain this week and the river was way up out of its banks, which meant that all the limbs and debris that were washed in from all the heavy spring rains would be submerged and would make getting a decent distraction-free shot more of a possibility. It of course means that once the water recedes there will be new debris in its place.

It’s a vicious cycle.

edit: no ND filters were harmed (or used) in the making of this photo.

2nd edit: as far as I know, flood damage around here has been minimal - nothing compared to what's going on in Georgia right now.

More and more I find myself drawn to long exposure images. I like the play between the rough texture of the tree's bark with the soft flow of the water.

Gorgeous shot. 25 seconds without ND filter? How did you manage that? Superb technique to achieve this.

Not sure why or how I missed this post. Love the black and white on this comp :)

The long exposure gives the water such a dreamy feel!
