At the Drive-In

Fake food on a Ford Galaxie. Looks cool, though! Taken at the 2008 Tower Car Show in Fresno. This Ford Galaxie

Oh, that brings back memories! My father used to take us to the A&W when I was a kid.

That fake food (and tray) is expensive! I was thinking of getting some for use when I take my classics to shows, but decided not to spend the cash on it. Instead, I plan to make a drive-in speaker pole with speakers to put next to mine. Heck, I've got about 40+ drive-in speakers, so it won't cost me much to make. :-) (No, I didn't steal 'em, a defunct drive-in let me have them.)
  • Dusty_73 7y

The drive in speakers would be very cool!

So you have the Edsel, you have the Caddy, what's the other classic in your stable?
  • loungelistener 7y

Two Edsels... the '58 Pacer sedan (4dr), a '59 Villager wagon, and the '53 Cadillac Series 62, also a 4dr.

That's great! The shot I have of a Bel Air with a drive-in tray has no food. The fake rootbeer floats really makes it!

    A step back in time!

    Thanks gato ranch and Mike!

Loungelistener, those are three very cool cars you have!

I just fainted from a wave of nostalgia. Oh the memories. The A&W was the place to be in Marshalltown Iowa in the 1950's.
  • Andrea 7y

    Great!!! old style!!

    Thanks greatlandoni and thedrio!

Apparently someone on Facebook "borrowed" this one from me. It has since been making it's way around the internet. Although I am glad that people are seeing the photo, it was copyrighted and I had not authorized anyone else to use it. Anyway, I hope that it will inspire all those who do see it to think about a time when things were different....Dare I say better, in my opinion.

I've absolutely lost track at this point of how frequently my photography, graphic design and now jewelry designs have been stolen and used/replicated online. I had to have tumblr block my stream here years back because it had gotten so bad. Internet technology is both a blessing and a curse. I couldn't survive without it. Literally. I do all my business and make my income online.

Dusty_73 is this your blog I used your pic a day ago on FB for "name that car" after seeing it linked on a friends page. the link came from that 2009 blog.
  • Dusty_73 2y

Thanks Gato Ranch....I haven't had too much of a problem yet, and I have had a lot of productive contacts through my flickr account, so I guess for me the benefits are outweighing the problems.

Zoom44, thanks for pointing that out. No, that's not my blog and they don't give me credit or a link back to the photo. I may have to send a little friendly reminder to them.

Don't forget that Bob Seger's "Night Moves" was inspired at the A&W here in Ann Arbor. Not standing anymore, but was pretty close to my house.
