There was not much to choose from on my last sunset adventure. As a matter of fact, it took me 2 days before I even cracked open the file to process anything. This one really stuck out at me. The water did any way. The sun and sky, just so so in my humble opinion. And then theres the whole filter thing that I had to deal with.
Filter thing you say? Yes, you know me, I love my filters! So, when I first go to the beach, I put on the 6 stop filter, thinking I wanted to extend the exposure a bit. Once I realized the water had some nice crashing patterns, I decided that the deeper ND was not a good choice, and I wanted to capture some water details. As I tried to take off the ring, for the grad filter holder, it stayed attached to the ND filter. So, for the rest of the night, I had to hand hold the hard grad filter over the lens to be able to get any good shots, with out blowing out the sky too much. In the process of messing with this set up, the stuck ring, I missed a great deal of sun setting time. I took many shots, fiddled with the ring, looked up, and the sun was gone. I did stay a while any way, I do most of my shooting after the sun goes down, but the sky was rather lack luster with out clouds. So, as of now, I think this was the best I got of the night.
Geek talk: Just the Hitech hard grad filter.
