RGB Blacksburg in conjunction with VBI (Virginiatech Bioinformatics Institute) ran a "Programming HTML & Javascript" activity booth at VBI's Kids Tech University (kidstechuniversity.vbi.vt.edu/ ). KTU is for kids ages 9-12 from all over the state of VA. In our case, most of these kids had never seen the technology or HTML behind the web... so they were very excited to step through Racker Nicole Schwartz's HTML and javascript instructions:

After spending between 10-12 minutes with each kid, stepping them through editing raw HTML and javascript, we helped them save their work and entered it on our Let's Code Blacksburg/KTU gallery here:

So they could go home and show their friends and family their own web page.

Additionally, we taught the kids how to teach themselves HTML via the ever useful resource www.w3schools.com/ and their world famous HTML tutorials.

With the goal of exposing middle school kids to web based technology, we think our event was a huge success.

Thanks to all the Rackers who helped make it possible:
