Spring is in the air
Every now and then I have the opportunity to take a break on my pedal-to-the-metal drives to Salem and back. Today was one of those days and as I came north through Portland and saw this regal lady dominating the horizon I knew exactly where my side trip would take me.
I hoped to get near Coldwater Lake but about 6 miles before I started driving though large areas of snow covering the highway. I decided it was best not to push it and stopped at Elk Rock Viewpoint, and gingerly made my way from the road across (in some places) foot+ deep snow and out to a snow-free wall. Although it was 60F, the wind was blowing about 1000mph! Yes! 1000 mph! ;-) Seriously, when standing on the slipperly snow, the wind pushed me until I was slowing ice-skating around.
Anyway, I decided that settling for this view at the end of my drive wasn't too bad.
