Morningside Lights 2014
The third annual Morningside Lights took place in Morningside Heights September 20-27, 2014. Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles, artists and creative directors of Processional Arts Workshop returned to teach participants building technique and help members of the Morningside Heights community realize their ideas and visions in beautiful executions of large-scale illuminated objects. This year's theme, Odysseus on the A Train, shares in a Columbia-wide celebration of Harlem artist Romare Bearden and his 1977 collage series "A Black Odyssey," inspired by Homer's timeless epic. The week culminated with the Morningside Lights procession, traveling from Morningside Park to Columbia University, and featuring a participatory score by composer Nathan Davis.
