LEGO® Model T Ford

History

• Ford Motor Company: started 1903

• Model-T Ford: introduced 1908

The Model-T Ford is the most famous early car. It was the first automobile produced on an assembly line, allowing it to be built much faster and making it more affordable for the average working family.

The original Model-T Ford cost about $950 US when it was first produced and took 728 minutes (just over 12 hours) to assemble. By the time the last cars were built in 1927,

the cost had dropped to $280 US and the assembly line turned out a new car every 93

minutes.

The Ford Motor Company is still in business today, over 100 years after it first started.

Fun Facts

• More than 15 million Model Ts were sold throughout its 19 years of production.

• Henry Ford took apart the crates that he received car parts in and used the wood to

produce charcoal. He sold it under the name “Kingsford”, which is still a leading brand of charcoal today.
