Hope Liancour #1

Hope Liancour stood just over 1.3 meters tall yet she was considered one of the finest fencers in Europe of either gender. Her skill with a blade and her legendary temper earned her the nickname "Le Petit Frelon". Born of a Scottish mother and French father she traveled in the finest social circles but disasterous business decisions left her family penniless, forcing her to travel Europe performing fencing exhibitions and teaching. Eventually her exhibitions became more and more like a carnival act with tricks, burlesque humor and eventually sword swallowing being added to attract an increasingly jaded public. She eventually toured America during the Great Depression, first on stage and later as part of the Craw and Loupe Brothers Combined Shows as a sideshow freak and novelty act.
