My second attempt on IR-720 - still not quite a perfect one actually. Still suffering from hot spots as well and I found out that f/4 gives less of a pronounced hole in the middle, but it's still there as a result of internal reflections within the Tokina 12-24mm. A lot of lenses suffer from this and some work wonders, like some cheap kit-lenses I sold with my D200 last week :((

So, I'm afraid I need to find a cheap 18-70 dinky again or go for the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 which - according to some but not to others - doesn't produce these nasty spots. I will see, because I have two 11-16's in backorder now. Hope to testing out one about a couple of days or weeks.

    Post-processing notes
I'm really close to a standard set of actions applied in PP when it comes to IR photos after they have been custom white balanced in-camera or in your favorite tool. I will be posting a Photoshop action in one of my next IR posts that does the auto-level adjustment and channel swap on the image, with some additional adjustments for your convenience. Hang on if you like.

    Camera & exposure

    Camera: Nikon D300 unconverted
    Lens: Tokina AT-X 124 Pro 12-24mm f/4
    Filter: IR-720
    f/4 - 15 sec - 12mm - ISO-100

P.s. I know I need to catch up with you folks, will be passing by soon.

This is a tremendous image...the clarity is superb.
What did you decide on the 11-16? I have rented it a few times and really liked it a lot.
