November 2012 | Rod McDonald

by CreativeMornings/Ottawa

This November, CreativeMornings/Ottawa was extremely excited to be hosting a talk about an often overlooked, but critically significant component of visual communication and design - typography. Typography is the art and technique of arranging type in order to make language visible, and we are honoured to welcome esteemed Canadian typography designer Rod McDonald to CreativeMornings.

Rod shared his experience as a prominent figure in Canadian typographic design, as well as the influence that Canadian typography has had on the world in his call to celebrate Canadian design and figures.

Hosted at an artist-run centre like no other in Canada. From its inception in 1973, the artist-run centre Galerie SAW Gallery has supported politically and socially engaged art, focusing on the performance and media arts. Many of the world’s best-known artists have exhibited at SAW in the early stages of their careers. Located in the historic Arts Court building, we are very excited to host out first CreativeMornings at Galerie SAW Gallery
