Jon Adams Exhibition
'In the arms of my loving father'
Jon Adams, CCI Space, Eldon Building
20th April -6th May 2009 10am - 4pm
'We all enclose memories formed from the breath of long forgotten stars'
The exhibition plays with literal terminology and the development of creative and emotive responses to the current themes of Cosmology and theoretical physics through experimental sound, word, graphic and moving image.
Working within the ICG as Leverhulme Artist in Residence (Institute for Cosmology and Gravitation) part of the Faculty of Technology, Jon Adams has explored the attitudes and desires of the 'hidden' within our-selves and engaging the wider universe.
The culmination of this journey, one of deliberate learning and self-discovery is documented by the work on show which has evolved from conversation and chance. Containing 'supernova' photography and weaving memory with computer audio technology, geologic metaphor and analogue 'marking' on paper.
There will be participatory 'live' experimental sound performances and workshops during this exhibition.
'When we cannot see something we imply it has to be special and impose on it an aura of magical potential and mystery' - So does being afraid of the dark matter?
