Barred Owl wing

I was called to rescue an owl trapped in a local church basement. I was astonished to find it was a Barred Owl, a species that is still pretty rare in Wayne Co., and has only been reported once in Dearborn, in 1976. The bird was healthy, and with the help of my husband Darrin O'Brien and friend Jim Fowler we banded it and released it. The church is directly across the Rouge River from the UM-Dearborn campus, and it flew in that direction. The story is at the RRBO blog Net Results.
