Back in the day, to keep your tube TV working, you would visit the u-test-m machine at a local store. You could bring in your tubes, plug them into the tester, and it would tell you if they were working properly. If you were very smart, you would visit the machine before you took the tubes out of your TV, to get a supply of little stickers that would allow you to match the tubes to their sockets. Here's a tribute to dad's efforts to keep our ancient Zenith from ghosting, bending and rolling. I can smell the tuner cleaner now.
