Reupholstery of an authentic Dunbar Furniture Co. loveseat
This loveseat was made by the Dunbar Furniture Company of Berne, Indiana, which became famous for its graceful, innovative furniture designs by Edward J. Wormley. It is highly likely that this loveseat is an authentic Wormley design. It was purchased at the Chicago Merchandise Mart in the mid-1900s by our customer's grandmother.

Wormley studied briefly at the Art Institute of Chicago and worked as an interior designer for the Marshall Field Company. During the Depression he was hired by the Dunbar company to help improve their product lines.

In the 1950s, Wormley’s designs were included in a major exhibit at the Chicago Merchandise Mart, sponsored by New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

Look closely, and you will see the Dunbar name woven into the beige-colored deck of the loveseat. We re-used this fabric so as to preserve some of the history of this loveseat.
