Kilenso Mokonisa Drying beds

After a 16 hours of travel to Addis Ababa, there was no time to lose, so I headed directly down to southern Ethiopia to the region of Sidama. After and additional 7 hours, I arrived in the town of Hagermariam (Land of Mary) where I spent the night.

Not too far from Hagermariam is a tiny town called Kilenso Mokonisa. Kilenso Mokonisa is the home of a very special preparation Natural Process Ethiopian coffee we are buying this year, and this is our first trip here to check it out. With Aklilu Kassa, the owner of the washing station, and Yilma Abebe, the export manager for this coffee, at my side, we arrived at a very beautiful washing station.

This is the largest washing station I have visited in Ethiopia. This washing station can produce 25 containers of coffee ... or, just shy of 1 million pounds.
