Purple Aster

The Aster Family (Asteraceae) is one of the two largest flower plant families, the other being the Orchid Family (Orchidaceae). It hasn't been exactly determined which is larger. The Aster Family has almost 23000 members as species.

There was a time when I would have moved heaven and earth trying to nail down exactly what species this particular Aster belongs to.

This is a handheld test shot with the Zeiss 50mm MP lens I had just gotten. While I haven't used it for much macro work as yet I do believe it would do a good job. It is exceedingly sharp and has pleasing bokeh.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!
