Magic Kingdom - Leaving Today

This shot has a fun story to it. In February, Ryan and I took a trip that was all "business". Almost everything we shot was for the purposes of the website, future eBooks, and future apps, all of which we are very excited about. So, from a Thursday through a Sunday, we were covered head to toe in photo gear. We brought our whole rigs with us and spent LONG days in the parks shooting. The Saturday night of our trip though, we decided to give ourselves a much needed reward. We were going to the Magic Kingdom that night to meet with Tom and Sarah Bricker, and we both decided we were going to go to the park with one camera, one lens, and no tripods or anything fancy. So, Ryan had his 7D and 50mm lens, and I took my 5D and my 50mm lens. And we figured we would see what we could do. I didn't come away with a ton of great stuff (probably due to being a walking zombie and trying to keep up with the Bricker's, which has a catchy ring to it. Sounds like a Disney sitcom!) but I had some things I was proud of, like this one.

I always look for a composition on this sign that I like, and I just never find one. This sign is much easier to capture at Disneyland, since it isn't buried under banners and other miscellaneous stuff. The lighting on this one at Magic Kingdom also leads to some pretty flat shots. But, at night, with lights on it, it had a little more pop. And this is the result.

After today, I'll be going without my computers and running my life off of my iPad before my move on Monday. I'll be trying my best to comment on photos all throughout, but the next time you see a photo from me will probably be sometime next week when the internet is connected in my apartment. Thanks to everyone for all the warm wishes in regards to my move, and I can't wait to see all of you in Florida when you come visit! Thanks for lookin', and have a great day!! | | |
