Adule and juvenile wild New Caledonian crows, with a tool (juvenile)

We drilled holes in logs and placed tiny pieces of meat in the bottom of each hole. The wild crows come and when they see the meat at the bottom of the hole, they make a tool and fish out the meat. This juvenile crow has a leaf-stem tool, while its parent watches. Photo by Natalie Uomini
