Baltimore District conducts pre-storm assessments in Ocean City, Maryland

The Baltimore District Atlantic Coast of Maryland Shoreline Protection Project Pre-storm Conditional Assessment Team (ACMSPP-PCAT) collects four surveyed profiles in Ocean City, Maryland at different locations along the project, including at known hot-spots at 146th Street, 81st Street, and 32nd Street, on Oct. 1, 2015.

Hot-spots are areas known to have higher rates of erosion than the adjacent shorelines. These surveyed cross-sections extend from the construction baseline to the waterline.

These surveys were conducted in anticipation of Hurricane ‪Joaquin in order to determine the condition of the flood risk management project prior to any potential storm effects. In case of storm damage, this process will help return the project back to pre-storm condition, using federal dollars, if storm damage assistance is requested.‬
