Rugeley, Staffordshire

Newer Older

I haven't bothered with my R72 filter since August when I took it on holiday to Jersey. The shots using the filter on the Canon 400D were so disappointing that I decided to put the filter away. However, encouraged by a wonderful IR shot uploaded by greenbunion the other day I decided to get the R72 out again and try it on my wife's little Ricoh GX100.

This was taken hand-holding the IR filter in front of the Ricoh's lens and I must say I'm v pleased with the results. The exposure times on the Ricoh are much lower compared to the Canon's and the shot has more contrast without a noticable hotspot that used to dog the Canon shots.

I wonder how long it'll be before my wife notices her camera has gone :-)

I hold my sunglasses up in front of my little camera's lens. I was just talking about IR with someone yesterday. He sent me this:

It was illuminating, so to speak. ;)

He's got some great IR shots too - www.flickr.com/photos/32source/

But pink? How'd you get pink?!

Very cool indeed. I've been around Rugeley a lot (is this taken on the canal out near Cannock?) and never seen it looking quite so beautiful.

I get the 'hotspot' more times than not using the ricoh, unfortunately. It is too bad because other that that it gives great results. I wonder why it would be different with yours. Any ideas? This is an amazing shot.

I see that you wasted 45 seconds of my time by disabling downloads so that no one could use this as their desktop wallpaper without sending you money.

I just wanted you to know that I downloaded it anyway after going through the source and finding the original image and I am now using it as my desktop wallpaper against your direct wishes. I might also distribute it to others.

    Also, fuck you.
