Evergreen Plantation in Louisiana is one of the most complete plantation complexes left in the south and still has its original row of slave cabins in their original locations.

Reminds me of when I was there....overcast sky and puddles of rain everywhere.

      This is a gorgeous shot!

Everytime I go to plantations it's overcast and usually raining. Most people didn't venture out to take pictures of the front of the home but there was no way I was not going to. I ended up liking the end result with the reflection in the water anyway.

What a beautiful place. I like the reflection, but I don't think I would like standing water in my yard :)

      This place looks haunted

thank you! I don't think I'd want that either! They'd had some strong storms move through in the days before I'd been there so there was a lot of rain to be absorbed!

That's one of the few good things about going during the winter months, no mosquitos!!!

      Thank you!

It is not said to be but we saw a light randomly turn on and off for no reason. Probably a short somewhere in the line, or a mouse or a loose wire but it was still somewhat spooky!

Thanks for putting up with all rain and standing water to give us such a beautiful shot. Evergreen is truly a gateway to a world very different from the one in which we live.

What location is this plantation? Is it within an hour or two of New Orleans?

    13. Corey Ann 64 months ago | reply

Evergreen is about 40 minutes from New Orleans. It's on the West Bank on River Road.

Thanks... this is really nice in large size.

Here it their site for more info, and photos.

The original 1790 Creole house appeared MUCH different than this. It was remodeled to its present form in 1832. However there was only one staircase on the front.
