I took this photo on a backpacking trip into Sequoia National Park in later November of 2005. The hike up to this beautiful area is relatively short and a popular hike in the summer, but it was late November and along with the short days I was accompanied by snow flurries hiking in. My first night was camped near "tablelands" (in the mountains to the right side of the photo) where I had a fantastic view of the great western divide and the Sequoia high country. This picture was taken not far from my camp the second night at Pear Lake. I had lost the sun at 3pm that day, only to regain it in this amazing sunset at 5 before a long and cozy night in the wilderness.
