Light painting in Lage Zwaluwe, NL
This is a rarely used railway crossing about 50 meters from a closed gate. The single rail line below connects the Moerdijk industrial area to the main railway line between Dordrecht and Breda / Roosendaal. It is hardly used in the dark so it was a perfect location for us to shoot. During exposure two passenger trains passed on the main line above us.
Just behind us, outside the shot, is the high speed rail line from Amsterdam to Paris which is only used once an hour in either direction by Thalys trains.
I did this one with Antonio, so you'll find another version of it in his photo stream.
Exposure was 583 seconds at f/6.3 and ISO 200. Focal length: 15mm.
The orange light in front came from 4 orange leds which were on for the full exposure. In between the rails and for the viaduct walls we used RGB led strips. The blueish white light on either side of the main span came from a 1 watt led lamp. A 3 second burst on both sides was all that was needed for this.
The barrier and warning lights were lit by a single flash of a disposable camera.
