Norfolk Southern's B49, running as Z739 on CSX, has just crossed the Grand Rapids Eastern diamond at Fuller and is now heading north across Ann St. The crew will shortly be heading into the old yard where Conrail once interchanged with the Michigan Northern. Conrail, and later Norfolk Southern, interchanged traffic there with the GRE for most of the 1990s and into the 2000s. After NS leased out its Grand Rapids branch to Watco's Grand Elk in 2009, the yard was OOS until being heavily rebuilt and redeveloped as a transload operation in 2015. This was the only time I ever saw a GP59 in Grand Rapids.
