Day 177/366 - The Day I Return Home.

    Newer Older

Today was my last day in Arizona with Poppy before I had to return back to Seattle.

We watched movies, sat at the table while he did his medicine, looked through old photo albums and then...We had to say goodbye.

I don't remember the last time I truly cried like today.

I just couldn't help it.. To see him standing at the door with his walker and his oxygen plugged in. Looking into his eyes was one of the saddest things I've ever witnessed. He was so sad.

In it's own way this short series of photographs of your grandfather reminds me of Avedon's documentation of his father. Really enjoyed how moving the images are.
