Project 365 #193: 120713 Ugly Fruit?

Although I've tagged this as 'home grown' it wasn't actually grown at my home.

 

This is a strawberry from the vegetable plot in school which is lovingly tended by the kids in the gardening club.

 

As a surprise treat, the lead teacher picked the crop and laid on a cream tea outside for the kids. I got some of the leftovers today, and in the pot was this - the kind of strawberry that supermarkets seem keen to somehow protect us from.

 

Unsurprisingly enough, it tasted just as good as the prettier ones. :)
