ParcelForce Distribution Centres, Nationwide
The Royal Mail’s ParcelForce sorting and distribution centres are converted warehouses, and have to deal with up to 150 vans at any one time entering and exiting the buildings, with large variations in the levels of diesel exhaust. Colt developed a scheme to ensure cross flow ventilation using natural inlet air and mechanical extract with a combination of axial fans and natural ventilators, comprising Seefire louvred ventilators. These are triggered by CO detectors when emissions reach
a pre-determined level, ensuring that the mechanical extraction fans only operate as needed to cut operating costs. The system has been installed in a variety of ParcelForce locations.
