1978 BMW R100/7 Cafe Project
I purchased this 1978 BMW R100/7 used a while back. Rode around on her for a bit, but a stripped centerstand tab forced me to remove everything from the frame to get it repaired. These bikes need to be on their centerstands or the oil will collect into the left cylinder when parked, leading to problems. And thus begins another protracted project. I just can't leave things alone.

After days/months/years of visiting various motorcycling blogs and collecting images, I thought the best way to go with this rebuild was to cafe it out... in a scrambler / street tracker sort of way. I didn't want to just swap out the seat for a gunfighter and slap on some clip-ons, I wanted to turn this fat dog into the most beautiful 70's BMW mutt on the streets.

The overarching concept is the make the bike visually and physically slimmer. Cut, chop, and smooth away any excess. A fat ugly dog, transformed into to a handsome dick and bones mutt... with some expert help from Yoshi and Kiyo at the Garage Company.
