his guidance enlightened our anniversary trip
Meet Johnny Clemente, Volunteer Guide, Portland Museum of Art
Consider this our "ticket" to enter the museum!
On the inside,
we met up in the amazing *writing* exhibit (link on pic below).
On the outside,
after we had toured the museum, he suddenly appeared again while on his break, with closed eyes
reflecting while soaking up the afternoon sun.
He'd been with the museum for many years after retiring from teaching high school history in Maine.
We talked in great depth about the lost art of *Writing* and he shared a few wonderful stories about managers to whom he's written in hotels around the world.
He also showed us a painting which had been miraculously restored! His enthusiasm for the art, museum, and life, in general, were infectious!
I've been processing a hand-written thank you letter in my head ever since we returned.
This will be the week it gets hand-cancelled and sent on its way.
When I revisited the museum the next day to check on his name, the receptionist could not say enough about this amazing volunteer, as he was truly their most gifted employee!
Thanks, Johnny, for all your guidance, both inside and outside your beautiful building!

simple tastes, a certain degree of courage, self denial to a point, love of work, and above all, a clear conscience.”
