Without mothers we wouldn't be here!
Hope everyone enjoyed today with or without mom or children!
We celebrated last night to avoid the crowds,
and today I played with different lenses while photographing one of my Mother's Day gifts!
Still need to get a super macro lens some day! Meanwhile, this fits the mood!
Last evening we attended a wonderful lecture by a fellow calligrapher/painter who talked about her recent interest in architecture and memory. She spoke a lot about our familiarity with *places* and especially those containing *trees* . . . thus, the following quotation resonated with me this evening.
“To rise above tree line is to go above thought,
and after, the descent back into birdsong, bog orchids, willows, and firs
is to sink into the preliterate parts of ourselves.”
~ Gretel Ehrlich ~
“When you feel neglected, think of the female salmon,
who lays 3,000,000 eggs, but no one remembers her on Mother's Day.”
~ Sam Ewing ~
