she unlocked the stairway to heaven
On Saturday I revisited the old summer home where my only *happy* childhood memories still lived. Just as I was about to leave, I noticed this light at the top of the stairs. Not until I downloaded the photograph did I see the light switch plate on the wall and the old-fashioned key in the door. Now, as a mature adult, this image profoundly speaks to me of simple images which are such metaphors for happiness in life . . . . .
Many quotations flooded my heart this morning . . .
some serious, some whimsical, but all so true, I must share them with you!
“Our senses are indeed our doors and windows on this world, in a very real sense the key to the unlocking of meaning and the wellspring of creativity.” ~ Jean Houston ~
“In oneself lies the whole world and if you know how to look and learn, the door is there and the key is in your hand. Nobody on earth can give you either the key or the door to open, except yourself.”
~ Jiddu Krishnamurti (Indian Theosophist Philosopher, wrote The Future of Humanity, Songs of Life, Kingdom Happiness. 1895-1986) ~
“If a window of opportunity appears, don't pull down the shade.” ~ Tom Peters ~
“A smile is a light in the window of a face that signifies the heart is at home and waiting." anon
“Well, it seems to me that the best relationships - the ones that last - are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship. You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before. Like a switch has been flicked somewhere. And the person who was just a friend is ... suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with.” ~ Gillian Anderson ~
"I ran up the door, closed the stairs, said my pajamas and put on my prayers, turned off the bed and hopped in the light, all because you kissed me goodnight.” anon
