Incredible Balancing Act
A "long time ago" I took my Canon Powershot A20 to the beach. I was the only one there. Maybe it was because it was winter - quite cold and very, very windy. However, armed with all of 2.1 megapixels and 3x zoom (no macro, really) and some well-charged AA batteries, I took some pictures, the like of which I have never again had opportunity to take. This is one of my favorites. A piece of black - well, it wasn't a rock - but it wasn't charcoal either - had created a kind of wind pattern into the sand that had originally supported it. Eventually, between warm sun melting the frozen silicate surround and the strong winds carrying away the little grains - this is what was left. I have no idea how much longer it remained, but I was delighted to be there as it approached the zenith of its strange-but-true state.
