Tradition calls for people to wet the fingers of their right hand by the holy water font at the entrance of the church, then make the sign of the cross and genuflect. The font could either be free standing marble fountains or reliefs by the wall. The church of Asturias has quaint cherub fonts on the outside walls just in front of its doors. For me, the charm of old churches never wanes.
