Mr. D and his Onya "Front-End Loader" (sans front basket)

    Newer Older

Mr. D is a familiar face at the shop, works at Onya Cycles in San Francisco, and lives in Alameda. He was out for a ride with his girlfriend last Saturday, and they cruised by the shop so we could check out this freshly-assembled rig.

El Jefé and I each took it out for a spin through the neighborhood. The handling dynamics are truly unique, as this three-wheeler is skilfully engineered to lean through the turns...it has three wheels, but handles like a two-wheeler. A front basket will sit between the front wheels, capable of carrying cargo and/or passengers.

This frame was meticulouly fabricated by Joel Hirshfeld, and the complete bike was assembled by Mr. D himself.

I hope to ride it with a loaded basket in the near future.

    More to come.

So the basket will sit above the articulated truss system then?

Video here. Sorry it took so long. I built a couple of wheels at Onya yesterday. More soon.

Wow. I wanna check that out. The un-assisted version. Just rode a Nihola trike for the first time last weekend, and it was quite a treat. Ackerman steering linkage on that one.
