When I Was a Boy the Toys Were Metal

and they had sharp edges, dangerous paints, and ended up with a lot of dings and wear.


But nothing could surpass the imaginary cities I built and ran and the complex interplay of vehicles with personalities.


I love how the old Matchbox trucks had moving, functional parts, like the lifting crane or the little slot I could pull from the pack of the yellow loader so it would empty its sand contents.
